Thermal breaks on display. At BuildingEnergy Boston 2018.

Schöck North America will exhibit Isokorb® Structural Thermal Break products at Table #4 of the BuildingEnergy Boston Conference + Trade Show, a three-day event for professionals and practitioners in the fields of high-performance building, energy efficiency and renewable energy. Hosted by the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA), this year's event will be held from Wednesday through Friday, March 7-9, 2018, at the Westin Boston Waterfront.

The Schöck display will include examples of Structural Thermal Break products for connecting balconies, canopies and beams, slab edges, parapets and rooftop connections and other penetrations to concrete and steel building structures for the purpose of:

  • Reducing heat loss by up to 90 percent
  • Reducing heating system capacity requirements by up to 14%
  • Increasing warmth of interior floors by up to 34°F/19°C
  • Preventing the interior side of penetrations from becoming sufficiently cold to form condensation, support mold growth

Also on display will be a Freezer Demonstration Unit with one connection uninsulated and the other one insulated using a Structural Thermal Break, allowing visitors to feel the temperature difference typical of uninsulated versus insulated building penetrations.

Structural Thermal Breaks are utilized for concrete or steel buildings in which structures penetrate the insulated building envelope, and can be instrumental in buildings qualifying for Passive House, Net Zero and other green building certifications.

Schöck is the originator and world's leading producer of Structural Thermal Break products with over 10 million installations in 38 countries, offering engineering and support services through Schöck Regional Sales Managers throughout Canada and the US.
