More U.S. Construction Projects Expected to Achieve LEED® Certification with Schöck Isokorb®

Schöck, a leading international supplier of innovative building solutions, recently began distributing Schöck Isokorb®, a load-bearing thermal insulating element for the connection of cantilevered reinforced concrete and steel components such as balconies, porches or canopies, in the United States. The ground-breaking thermal technology has helped reduce the environmental impact of developments around the world, and is expected to contribute to the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) certification of future U.S. projects.

The thermal insulation properties of Schöck Isokorb® make it a key element in environmentally-friendly construction. By decreasing the heat loss around thermal bridges in building envelopes, the Schöck Isokorb® thermal breaks ensure higher surface temperatures, which conserve energy and reduce environmental impact while keeping utility costs low.

Schöck Isokorb® has been incorporated into many developments across the globe. Isokorb®'s introduction to the U.S. market is expected to increase the number of LEED® certified construction projects, creating infrastructure longevity and lessening environmental impact. The product fulfills the requirements for LEED® credit with IEQ Credit 4.1 and MR Credit 4.

"We are very proud to provide the U.S. construction industry with an energy efficient product that will help increase the number of LEED® certifications in the country," said Alex Krenczik, area director – Schöck. "At Schöck, we consider environmental health a top priority and strive to manufacture products that accomplish just that."

LEED®, a registered trademark of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), certification verifies that a building, home or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at achieving high performance in key areas of human and environmental health, such as sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
